The Northwest Washington neighborhood of Mount Pleasant, consistently one of the most sought-after markets in the city for the past few years, is known for its stately rowhouses and a handful of single-family houses in the western part of the community as well as condos and apartments closer to the commercial center along Mount Pleasant Street.
Redfin brokerage named Mount Pleasant the fifth-hottest neighborhood in the United States at the beginning of 2016, with a median home price of $760,000.
Now five new condos in two adjacent buildings are pushing up prices in the neighborhood, listing for as much as $1.295 million.
Developer Matt Shkor at Potomac Construction and architect Michael Beidler of Trout Design renovated and remodeled a dilapidated single-family house at 1867 Park Rd. NW, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, into a three-unit condo. They built a two-unit condo building on an adjacent lot, at 1865 Park Rd. NW.
