The former Italian Embassy on 16th Street NW, the subject of a long-planned condominium conversion that just can’t get going, has sold to an active residential development company that may shift gears.
Dallas-based Mill Creek Residential Trust closed Tuesday on the $16.2 million acquisition of 2700 16th St. NW, a 44,000-square-foot lot on the border of Adams Morgan and Columbia Heights that includes the historic 35,000-square-foot embassy building. Representatives for both the seller and buyer confirmed the deal.
