This set of additions to a modest brick colonial nearly doubled the size of the existing structure while minimizing the visual impact on the house massing and the neighborhood. We added a small front entry portico, incorporating new covered entry canopy, large closet and created a new front entry hall from what was a very awkward and tight entry condition. A re-arrangement of the first floor to create a fluid circulation plan with well developed visual axes and the addition of a large open kitchen-family room floods the first floor with light and a feeling of openness and welcome from virtually any space on the first floor. Up the existing stair, were added a new guest bathroom and bedroom suite, and a new master bedroom dressing and bath suite, all under a modest expansion of the roof line in a new exterior dormer addition. The expansive windows of the kitchen overlook a new 2 car garage with a "green roof" and new rear decks for outdoor entertaining.
