PRIVATE Residence, Yellow Springs, WV We were asked to renovate the kitchen and bathrooms of this lovely house and to assist in decorating and selecting color schemes to create a "new home" for the young new owners. The dining room was restored to it's original grandeur, the original butlers pantry was recreated from a previous renovation bathroom and a new chinoiserie powder room was added as a little jewel box on this first floor. The New kitchen combined the old, in-board kitchen with an existing historic sleeping porch to create a light-filed kitchen family breakfast space with a new built-in storage banquette. The numerous crystal chandeliers throughout were selected from a local antiques restorer as focal points for all the major rooms and circulation corridors. The second and third floor bathrooms were gutted to remove the deteriorated floor structures and re-built with classic aristocratic detailing. Custom millwork and wainscoting compliment the heated statuary white marble floors, tub surrounds and heavy slab counters while fixtures were selected to compliment the timeless nature of the overall house design, with some contemporary flair like full wall mirrors and glass shower walls to visually expand the spaces. Fireplace mantles were restored and new hearth stones and surrounds were added to compliment the existing classic detailing. |
